Are you planning your class reunion? Check here for tips, resources and things you can use to make your reunion a success!
544 Foundation Resources
The
office of the 544 Foundation is available during the weekdays for meetings.
We also can provide mailing lists; we'll work with you to improve the lists.
We have envelopes available for you to mail your group (the outside is printed
with "Reunion Info Enclosed.").
Classes are welcome to make a class gift to the schools through the Foundation. We need to try to recoup our costs; hence we ask that organizers ask classmates to join the Foundation.
10 Tips For A Great Class Reunion
(provided by Greg Brady of Z103.3 radio)
ADD 2 EXTRA LINES TO YOUR RSVP
Use these lines to ask your former classmates their two favorite songs from
high school. This will allow your entertainment to get an idea of your class’s
individual musical tastes.
ADD AN HOUR OF DINNER MUSIC
This is light music played during dinner. Dinner music gives you two advantages.
First it allows the party to make a smooth transition between dinner & dancing
with no dead time in between the two. Second, it gets the entertainer and the
equipment set up before dinner so the equipment is not being moved in as you
are eating.
SCHEDULE TIME FOR GETTING REACQUAINTED BEFORE DINNER.
This "time" allows people to circulate and talk with as many classmates
as possible before they sit down to dinner.
IF POSSIBLE, KEEP ALL ACTIVITIES IN THE SAME ROOM.
Having the music in one room and the bar in another usually spells "disaster"
for a reunion. If the activities cannot be held in the same room, request a
portable bar from the facility.
MAKE A COPY OF YOUR YEARBOOK AVAILABLE TO THE ENTERTAINER
The entertainer can use this to become familiar with some of the names of people
in your class. It can also help the entertainer to organize activities and skits
during the night.
SUPPLY NAMES OF DECEASED CLASS MEMBERS TO THE ENTERTAINER
This helps to avoid embarrassing situations during the night.
SUPPLY THE ENTERTAINER WITH A SMALL LIST OF FAVORITE HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS
AND A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF EACH
This allows the entertainer to be more personable with the audience and make
references to the special individuals from the past, and is sure to spark memories.
NOTE CLASSMATES WITH SPECIAL TALENT
If someone has a unique flair for the unusual, let the organizers know so they
can incorporate it into the night.
HAVE A THEME ACTIVITY FOR THE NIGHT
Plan some great icebreakers you can use to walk down memory lane. Some ideas
are contest type themes (Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune). Trivial pursuit, but
make the questions about high school!
SCHEDULE THE DANCE TO GO AS LATE AS POSSIBLE
Many times people get warmed up for dancing just as the party is ending. If
your initial inclination is to have the dancing from 8:00-12:00, try 8:30-12:30
instead. Another way to avoid this is to tell your classmates that dancing is
from 8:30-12:00 but actually schedule the entertainment until 12:30. This gives
them the illusion that they are staying later, and they will make the most of
the last hour.
